Since its inception, the Center has been involved in over 30 clinical research trials of therapies for acute stroke and secondary stroke prevention. The Center enjoys a national reputation for its clinical care and research accomplishments. The Stroke Center is located at the University of South Alabama Medical Center and provides rapid evaluation and treatment of strokes.
USA Stroke Center receives Gold Award from the American Heart Association for second year in a row
The USA Medical Center stroke team received again the Gold Achievement Award from the American Heart Association for maintaining high standards set for stroke care. The USA Medical Center was the first hospital in Alabama to have received this distinction.
"The University of South Alabama is proud to have received this honor," said Center Director, Dean Naritoku, M.D. "This award recognizes the ongoing efforts of the University to bring cutting edge treatment to the people of the Gulf region. This achievement could not have been possible without the strong commitment of all the multiple medical disciplines at our University who work together on our team."
