Honors Convocation Ceremony 2014
The College of Medicine Honors Convocation for the Class of 2014 (63 graduates) was held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Mitchell Center. Dr. J. Allan Tucker, Louise L. Locke Professor and Chair Department of Pathology delivered the address, and the class response was delivered by the J.D. Chesser, PhD. Dr. Kelly Roveda, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs acknowledged the AOA students members, the Gold Humanism students members and the scholarship recipients. Dr. Ronald Franks, Vice President for Health Sciences administered the Hippocratic Oath. The Hooding ceremony of the graduates was led by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Samuel J. Strada, Dr. Ronald Franks and Dr. Susan LeDoux, Associate Dean for Medical Education & Student Affairs. Graduates were assisted with their "hood" by an individual(s) of their choice, signifying the awarding of a doctoral-level degree.
During the honors convocation ceremony, students also were recognized for their academic and leadership achievements (PDF). The senior class selected those members of the faculty who had the most meaningful impact on their medical education and for their positive influence. The faculty selected by the class of 2014 wore a scarlet red stole over their academic regalia during Honors Convocation.
