MCI at work in your community.

MCI sponsors events throughout the year that are geared toward creating awareness of the importance of early detection in both cancer prevention and creating better outcomes for those diagnosed with cancer. We also host several annual events in collaboration with various community organizations and businesses to support patient care and advance our research initiatives.

Cancer Survivors Day                                                     

MCI is proud to host National Cancer Survivors Day each year. This day signifies a worldwide celebration of life. The event includes recognition activities, resources for cancer survivors and their families, and refreshments. 


Celebrate Hope                                                                

Celebrate Hope is the premier fundraising event for the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute. Held the Thursday before Thanksgiving each year, guests enjoy food, wine and craft beer pairings from local and regional chefs and caterers, along with live entertainment. In its four year history, Celebrate Hope has generated more than $1.4 million in net revenue to support cancer research.


          

Celebrate Hope-NYC

Hosted by Mayer and Arlene Mitchell's grandchildren, Celebrate Hope-NYC takes place each spring at a hip New York hot spot. The event features live music and a silent auction. Proceeds benefit the Audrey Joyce Grodnick Breast Cancer Research Endowment.


GO Run 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

GO for gynecologic oncology is an annual 5K and 1-mile fun run held on the main campus of the University of South Alabama. Held each September during gynecologic cancer awareness month, all proceeds from the run benefit the GYN Cancer Research Endowment at the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute.


Hope Cup LogoHope Cup Golf Tournament 

The Hope Cup Golf Tournament is a four-person scramble that takes place each June at The Country Club of Mobile.  All proceeds benefit the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute Fund for Excellence.


           Kerri Castello Cancer Research Foundation Serving Hope Tennis Tournament

Held each spring in memory of Kerri Castello, the Serving Hope Tennis Tournament donates a portion of all proceeds to the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute.


 

Polo at the Point

Polo at the Point is a prestigious sporting event held every October at the Sonny Hill-Clearwater Polo Complex. Local, regional and international polo players compete for the coveted Point Clear Polo Cup. Festivities also include a player's party, seated luncheon, silent auction, divot stomping, a hat parade and much more! The USA Mitchell Cancer Institute is proud to be one of the primary beneficiaries of this wonderful event. 




Salty Worm Brackish Classic and Delta Bash                    

The Salty Worm Brackish Classic and Delta Bash is unlike any other event of its kind! The "Brackish Classic" is the world's only fishing tournament that pits saltwater speckled trout fishermen head-to-head with freshwater bass fishermen. This occurrence can only be found in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta during certain periods of time each fall. The Delta Bash, a family-friendly party following the tournament, enables non-fishermen to join the fun. All proceeds from the Salty Worm Brackish Classic benefit the Gaillard Pancreatic Cancer Research Endowment.


Tennis for Tatas         

Tennis for Tatas is held in October at the Mobile Tennis Center to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. All proceeds from the tournament support breast cancer research at the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute.                                              


             

Think Pink Tea        

Held each October during breast cancer awareness month, the Think Pink Tea is a free, community-wide event that celebrates the lives of area breast cancer survivors while providing hope to those currently battling this disease. A keynote speaker provides an inspirational message to all of those in attendance.  
                                                 


              Walking for the Memories                                          

Held each spring in Grand Bay, Ala., Walking for Memories has raised thousands of dollars in support of breast cancer research.








Austin Lacey Blues Brunch          

The Austin Lacey Blues Brunch is held each November during lung cancer awareness month. Proceeds benefit the Austin Lacey Fund at the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute which seeks to illuminate facts about lung cancer, the number-one cancer killer in the United States, while raising awareness, facilitating early diagnosis, and providing support for young adults with cancer. Austin Lacey lost his battle with lung cancer at the age of 28, on May 4, 2011. Austin worked with his family to establish this fund before his death so that other young people could get the early diagnosis and treatment they need.


Cash for Cancer    

Held each spring, Cash for Cancer is a skeet shoot and gathering held in memory of Jim "Cash" McConnell. Proceeds support needs such as high-tech equipment purchases to advance cancer research.
