MOBILE, Ala. -- Lynne Godwin was recently promoted to Nurse Manager of the Endoscopy Lab, which includes the Gastrointestinal (GI) Lab and Interventional Radiology (IR) Unit at USA Medical Center.

Godwin has been with USA Health for more than 20 years and has worked in the Children’s Evaluation Center, Operating Room, Emergency Room, Surgery and Pediatrics. She has worked in GI for the past 14 years in various roles, including two years as a supervisor, and has been a consultant for IR since May 2016.

“Lynne has been a valuable member of the USA team for many years,” said Lisa Mestas, associate administrator for USA Health and chief nursing officer. “All who know her can attest to her ability to build teams and service lines while always focusing on excellent customer service and patient-centered care.”

In her new role, Godwin is working with the departments to improve processes, decrease wait times and ensure the level of customer service and care is maintained and improved when needed. Her vision for the future of her departments and the health system is to see administration, academia and clinical leadership working together to provide the best possible healthcare to the community.

“I get the most satisfaction from seeing patients that are in need of care and then watching them progress to becoming well or better than before,” Godwin said. “My goal every day is to make a difference to someone. The most satisfying moments are those caring for the patients and providing technology that is cutting edge and improves outcomes.”

Godwin has been a nurse since 1985. She has national GI certification, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing, and is currently working on a doctorate in nursing to be completed in July 2017.

“To me, nursing is a calling,” Godwin said. “And I decided if I was going to be a nurse, I would develop myself to the fullest extent.”
