Chris Jett has been named the new administrator of USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital, which serves as the leader in births for Mobile and is dedicated to helping people lead longer, better lives.
In his new role, Jett will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the 1,100-employee hospital. He has worked at the hospital since 2008 and has been an assistant administrator since 2012.
Jett’s appointment follows the recent promotion of former administrator Owen Bailey to the chief operating officer position at USA Health.
"Chris is a talented, committed and caring leader, and I know he will do a great job in this new role,” Bailey said. "I value his integrity, his commitment to excellence, and his ability to inspire people."
Jett said he is motivated by the people of USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital, the patients it serves and its team of physicians, nurses, therapists and staff.
“Children’s & Women’s Hospital means a lot to me,” Jett said. “I see the dedication of our staff, and the incredible impact they have on our patients and their families. It’s a privilege to work alongside them, serving and caring for the children and women of our region.”
He joined USA Children's & Women's in 2008 as an administrative resident and was promoted to assistant to the hospital administrator in 2009. In 2010, he also served as acting director of quality management and materials management at the hospital. In 2011, he was tasked with supervisory roles for additional departments. In 2012, Jett was promoted to serve as an assistant hospital administrator, where he had oversight of 13 departments. Last year, he was named USA Health assistant administrator for women’s health services, including both outpatient and inpatient operations across the health system.
His involvement in the community includes serving as chairman of the 2015 March for Babies as part of the March of Dimes Executive Leadership Team. Jett was selected as a “40 Under 40” honoree by Mobile Bay Magazine in 2014, a member of the 2013-14 class of Leadership Mobile, a member of the Make-a-Wish Regional Advisory Council, and served as vice chair of the Mobile County Healthcare Emergency Response Coalition in 2014.
Jett is a graduate of Faith Academy and the University of South Alabama, where he received a full scholarship to the Mitchell College of Business through the Mitchell Scholars program. He holds a master's degree in health administration and a master's in business administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
