The University of South Alabama Children’s & Women’s Hospital is pleased to announce Scotty Roberson joined the staff as Assistant Administrator and Chief Nursing Officer Nov. 23, 2015. Since 1983, Roberson worked at Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham, serving in a number of key nursing leadership positions.
His most recent roles were as Divisional Director of Acute Care Services and Divisional Director of Critical Care Services. Oversight of nursing departments included General Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, the Regional Burn Center, pulmonary and chronic ventilator population, solid organ transplant, renal, gastroenterology, urology, endocrine and general surgery. Roberson also is the founder of Pediatric Burn Foundation of America, which sponsors Camp Conquest, a free week-long summer camp for pediatric burn survivors from Alabama, Mississippi and Florida.
“My goals will be to continue to grow and capitalize on our historic success at USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital,” Roberson said. “I hope to continue to develop high performing teams and seek unparalleled collaboration with interdisciplinary, ancillary team members, departments and academic partners. Ultimately, great relationships with our teams will translate into superior outcomes for our patients and families. It is an exciting time to join the University of South Alabama Health System.”
Roberson earned a bachelor degree in nursing from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in Public Health/Healthcare Organization and Policy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He and his wife, Larney Roberson, have three children.
