USA Health System Information Services is pleased to announce that Vernon Coleman has recently been appointed to the position of Service Center Manager for the University of South Alabama Health System. Coleman, who has been successfully building and leading IT teams for over 20 years, will be charged with overseeing the day-to-day technical service operations at both USA Medical Center and USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital.
“Delivering the highest level of customer support is our top priority,” said Coleman.
Prior to his appointment at USAHS, Coleman performed as program manager of Infrastructure & Operations for MedWorth, LLC and the SSI Group, Inc. During his tenure, he led numerous development projects as well as the adoption and adaptation of Agile Scrum project management.
In 2007, ITT Tech appointed Coleman to be the first program chair for its School of Information Technology in Mobile. As the initial chair, he was responsible for building and growing the program. That same year, Coleman started his own business. V. A. Coleman & Associates, LLC, is an IT and organizational development company geared towards assisting government entities and small to mid-size organizations. It is still in operation and going strong.
Coleman served 21 years as an active duty Air Force member before retiring as a captain. He held numerous positions in information technology throughout his distinguished career. His last assignment, at the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School, was his favorite as he was able to wear numerous hats. While there, he functioned as the associate director of information technology, the course director for calculus, and the assistant head men’s basketball coach.
“I am very pleased we were able to get someone with the exceptional skills that Vernon possesses,” said Mark Lauteren, USA Health System CIO.
Coleman earned his bachelor of science in mathematics from Troy State University and his master of science in information technology from American Intercontinental University in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
