A car seat safety check event will happen in front of USA Children's & Women's Hospital (CW) from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The checks are offered to the public at no charge.
Earlier this year, several of CW's nurses earned their national certification from the National Child Passenger Safety Board as car seat safety technicians, and those nurses will be available to check car seats that day.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), about 90 people die in vehicle accidents each day. Vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children, the NHTSA reports.
The car seat checks will be administered in the MOM Care parking lot in front of the hospital (near Mobile Infirmary). For more information, call (251) 415-1000.
