Sheri Salas has been promoted to nurse administrator and special projects coordinator at University of South Alabama Medical Center.
Previously a clinical nurse leader on the sixth floor, Salas will be responsible for project management as well as clinical applications support related to the electronic medical record system at the Medical Center. Salas holds a master’s degree in nursing.
She will also continue to function as a Clinical Nurse Leader, utilizing data analysis to capture needs assessments for performance improvement and coordinating projects based on those assessments. Team projects and tools are based on capturing real data and result in improvements for patients as well as for the staff.
“I am honored to be a part of this team and to have the opportunity to serve our institution in this capacity,” Salas said. “I started at USA Medical Center early in my career and never looked back. We provide such a high quality of care here and work daily to maintain that for patients and families.”
A nurse at USA Medical Center for 17 years, Salas received the Excellence in Nursing Practice Award by the Zeta Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau in 2013. She also currently serves as chair of the Rapid Response/Code 1 Committee.
