Get your tickets now to the 2014 "A Cause for Celebration" on Nov. 6! This special event and silent auction raise money that Volunteer Services uses to celebrate milestones with hospital-bound pediatric and adult female patients.
Imagine having to spend what is normally a happy occasion, like your birthday, in a hospital room. Then imagine how it would feel if you were a child.
"A Cause for Celebration" event and silent auction for USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital raises funds to provide hospital-bound patients with gifts on life milestones. The second annual affair will be held on Nov. 6 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Mobile Carnival Museum in downtown Mobile.
Tickets to the event are $20 and include museum admission, hors d’oeuvres, drinks, a silent auction, photo booth and music from DJ Derrick Juzang.
“Also included is the great feeling that you are making birthdays and other important life occasions special for patients,” adds Belinda Baggett, director of Volunteer Services.
Since November of last year, Baggett estimates that the fund has helped provide dozens of birthday celebrations for pediatric and adult female patients. While originally the funds were raised exclusively for birthday recognition, the mission expanded, particularly after last year’s inaugural event raised $5,000.
Now in addition to birthdays, volunteers also support celebrations like the Bell Ringing event (held quarterly to acknowledge the end of chemotherapy treatment), the NICU reunion and other important milestones, like the graduation of a hospitalized student. The goal of this year’s event is to raise $10,000.
Tickets to A Cause for Celebration can be purchased in the hospital's Gift Shop, at the event or online. For more information, call Volunteer Services at (251) 415-1123.
