The chef chosen to represent MCI in the American Cancer Society Chili Cook-off says she makes her winning recipe almost weekly for her husband, James, who’s a big fan.
“I call it Granny’s Turkey Mountain Chili,” said Cathy Gipson of Chickasaw, who works as a patient account rep at MCI. “It has lots of vegetables – portabello mushrooms, peppers, onions and three kinds of beans.”
Gipson was crowned the winner with a green derby by MCI researcher Robert Sobol, Ph.D., after her chili received the most votes from employees among the eight entries. Her recipe will now be used by MCI’s Chili Cook-off team on Saturday, March 5, at The Grounds in west Mobile.
