Jan. 8, 2016 - Meet the Navigator: Rachel Hartwig

WHO SHE IS: As one of MCI’s patient navigators, Rachel guides her patients through every step of the treatment process. She joined the patient navigation team in June 2015 at the Fairhope clinic. Navigators help guide patients through the system as they undergo treatment.

EDUCATION: Rachel graduated from Michigan State University in 2012 with a degree in psychology. Her background is in clinical research, including recruitment and interviews.  She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in counseling at the University of South Alabama. Go Jags!

WORK HISTORY: Rachel worked at University of Michigan Health System before coming to MCI. She has been trained by the University of Alabama at Birmingham and MCI in the CMS Navigation Program. Her family experience has given her insight into some of the challenges patients and families face during their cancer journey.

WHAT SHE SAYS: “My biggest inspiration and teachers have been my patients, who show me the power of hope, perseverance and courage every day.”

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:  Rachel enjoys making memories with family and friends. She is a fan of corny jokes and all things coffee. Rachel's next big adventure in life is getting married in fall of 2017. She loves to read, garden, and cook.
