Kelly McCarron, director of development at USA Mitchell Cancer Institute, was selected for the Mobile Bay 40 Under 40, sponsored by Mobile Bay magazine. The annual listing identifies 40 of the Mobile area’s young professionals under the age of 40 who are expected to enrich their community with leadership, professional excellence and community service.
McCarron, 38, was among three professionals from the USA Health System to be chosen for this year’s list, which is featured in the January edition of the magazine. A native of Opelousas, La., McCarron is a Spring Hill College graduate. She and her husband, Jeff, have two children, Anna, 8, and Colin, 4. Her favorite Mobile dish? Fried crab claws.
“Since college, McCarron has shown a natural skill for fundraising in the alumni offices of both Vanderbilt University and Spring Hill College," wrote Mobile Bay magazine. "In her first three years as director of development at MCI, McCarron surpassed fundraising goals despite being hired during a recession. McCarron also serves on the board of Camp Rap-a-Hope.”
This is what McCarron said about her work at MCI:
"I am fortunate to work with a wonderful staff, incredibly talented physicians, researchers and their teams, as well as many dedicated volunteers and donors. And, I am amazed by the strength of our patients who, even when faced with a cancer diagnosis, remain optimistic and focus on what really matters. It's inspiring."
