A new radiation vault taking shape at MCI will add even more powerful Radiation Oncology treatment technology under one roof. The new vault, located on the north side of the MCI building, will house the linear accelerator, which treats many common cancers with minimal side effects.

“The new area will expand our space to see new patients, offer consultations and second opinions, and provide a warm and caring environment for all of our patients undergoing radiation,” said Dr. Michael Finan, MCI director.

Already in-house are two other key pieces of technology:  MCI’s CyberKnife, which targets small tumors in the treatment of brain, lung, bone and prostate cancer, and Tomotherapy, which uses a three-dimensional approach to treat tumors. MCI also provides high-dose-rate brachytherapy, which places radioactive seeds directly into tumors.
