The Third Annual Hope Cup Golf Tournament to benefit the Mitchell Cancer Institute Fund for Excellence will be Thursday, May 14, at the Country Club of Mobile. Presented by Springhill Toyota, the tournament honors the Mitchell Family and their continuing support of Mitchell Cancer Institute, the only academic cancer research institute along the upper Gulf Coast.
Organized as a four-person scramble, the tournament features putting and proximity contests on every hole, plus a surprise contest involving cancer survivors — plus two players who make a hole in one will be rewarded with a new car. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. with lunch at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon.
All funds generated by tournament sponsors and team registrations — at $1,600 per foursome — go to the Fund for Excellence, which provides critical unrestricted funding for areas of highest priority, including research, patient care and services, training for physicians and scientists and community outreach. In its first two years, the Hope Cup Golf Tournament raised nearly $90,000 for Mitchell Cancer Institute.
