MOBILE, Ala. (July 31, 2018) – On Saturday, September 15, the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute will host the 11th Annual GO Run, presented by the Catranis Family Charitable Foundation. This event will take place at the University of South Alabama on the Mitchell Center Lawn. The 5K is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. directly in front of the Moulton Tower, and the 1-mile Fun Run will follow at 9 a.m.
This event was launched by gynecologic oncologists Dr. Rodney Rocconi and Dr. Michael Finan, director of Mitchell Cancer Institute, to benefit gynecologic cancer research and to raise awareness of gynecologic cancers. Over the past decade, the GO Run has raised more than $450,000 for gynecologic cancer research at MCI.
The current cost to participate is $20 for adults and $5 for youth (10 and under). Beginning August 1, the cost will be $25 for adults and $10 for youth. On the day of the race, the price will be $30 for adults and $15 for youth. It is a great event for the whole family and features entertainment, food and fun activities for children. Registration is available online at raceroster.com.
All proceeds from the GO Run will be used to support cutting-edge research at MCI. Past success of this event has funded many projects at MCI, including the development of a screening test for ovarian cancer.
USA Mitchell Cancer Institute is the only cancer research and treatment facility on the upper Gulf Coast corridor with offices in Mobile, Fairhope and Monroeville.
