March 1, 2018 - McLaughlin named administrator of MCI Clinical Services

MOBILE, Alabama (3/1/2018) -- Theresa McLaughlin has been named administrator of Clinical Services at USA Mitchell Cancer Institute. McLaughlin, formerly chief operating officer at Southern Cancer Center P.C., will oversee and direct practice management and the daily operations of radiation oncology, medical oncology and GYN oncology, customer service, physician recruitment and the development of patient services.

McLaughlin holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has more than three decades of experience in oncology.

“Theresa has a strong background in oncology as well as administration,” said MCI Director Dr. Michael A. Finan. “Her track record shows that she will be a great addition to the MCI leadership team.”

McLaughlin said her goals will be to improve and streamline the multiple strengths of MCI and to continue to focus on being the provider of choice for cancer care. “At MCI, we have all the services necessary to provide all aspects of cancer care not available anywhere else in our service area,” she said. “In addition to our core services of GYN, medical, and radiation oncology, we conduct bench research and clinical trials, and offer palliative care, nurse navigators, dieticians, genetic counselors, a CyberKnife and a specialty pharmacy.  We will truly be the one place that can meet all of our patients’ cancer needs.”

As one of the founding members of Southern Cancer Center, McLaughlin and her physician partners grew the practice into one of the largest and most successful Medical Oncology providers in the region.  Southern Cancer Center joined the U.S. Oncology Network in 2017.

McLaughlin had previously served as senior vice president, Regional Services, at Sacred Heart Health System and Providence Hospital, where she established and managed a major affiliation with M.D. Anderson, and where she was responsible for directing the regional operations of the hospitals’ cancer centers.  Her company, McLaughlin Management Consulting, provides assistance to oncology providers in the areas of pharmacy and electronic medical record systems.

McLaughlin is a former lieutenant commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve.  She and her husband reside in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
