In conjunction with National Cancer Survivors Day, USA Mitchell Cancer Institute will hold a special celebration for all cancer survivors on Sunday, June 4, 2017, in downtown Mobile. The theme is “Hope Grows Here.”
The event is set from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Mobile Convention Center. It is free and open to all cancer survivors, regardless of when they were diagnosed or where they received treatment. Caregivers are also welcome.
“Where hope grows, the possibilities are endless,” said Janel A. Lowman, associate manager for Outreach at USA Mitchell Cancer Institute. “We invite all survivors in our community to attend so they can learn from one another, support each other and celebrate, which is so important.”
The event will feature stories from survivors and caregivers, as well as special performances by local talent. All survivors will be invited to participate in decorating a special Tree of Hope with their personal messages of encouragement. Information on support groups and other resources will also be available.
Parking is free. Attire is casual. Those wishing to attend should RSVP by May 30 by calling 251-445-9691.
