A cancer researcher, a cancer surgeon and a pharmacist at USA Mitchell Cancer Institute are among the young leaders named in the 2016 Class of 40 Under Forty by Mobile Bay magazine.
Kari Kirk Benson, Pharm D., 39, a pharmacist at MCI and USA Medical Center, is also the owner of Frios Gourmet Pops. Asked about her hidden talents, the Selma native tells Mobile Bay, “I’m actually pretty strong for my size, and I’m pretty handy with power tools.”
Aishwarya Prakash, Ph.D., 32, assistant professor of Oncologic Sciences at MCI, says that “finding something new” is what drives her forward in scientific research. The best advice she has received? “If you’re not having fun, you’re doing something wrong!”
Dr. Marcus Tan, 39, surgical oncologist and leader of the Liver-Biliary-Pancreas Cancer Program at MCI, received the Scarlet Sash Award from USA College of Medicine for his contribution to medical education. As a child, though, he tells Mobile Bay he wanted to become a Jedi.
The entire 2016 Class of 40 Under Forty is featured in the magazine’s January 2017 edition.
