WHO SHE IS: Ashley Monique Flanagan, MSN, CRNP, is a board-certified Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She works in Medical Oncology at MCI.
EDUCATION: Flanagan earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Spring Hill College and a master’s degree in Executive Nursing Administration from the University of South Alabama. She also received a post-master’s certificate in Adult and Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
WORK HISTORY: Flanagan began her nursing career at USA Medical Center, where she worked in the Surgical and Trauma Intensive Care Unit and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.
She also worked as a primary care nurse practitioner for HIV patients at the Mobile County Health Department.
WHAT SHE LIKES ABOUT NURSING: “Nursing is an emotionally fulfilling and rewarding career. Being a nurse practitioner gives me the opportunity to create hope, change lives and empower patients. I am able to make a difference and help patients and their families deal with medical issues by treating them with compassion, dignity and respect.”
BACKGROUND: A native of Mobile, Flanagan said she pursued a master’s degree to enhance her nursing knowledge and skills in order to provide high-quality healthcare services to people in her community.
