Pet Therapy at USA Health Children's & Women's Hospital

Volunteer

At USA Health, we consider our volunteers to be an integral part of the care and services we provide to the community.

Volunteering at USA Health

Volunteers at our facilities find rewarding opportunities that directly affect the healing process for our patients and often can relieve stress for their families. Each year, more than 300 local people donate their time across our campuses. Volunteer openings are available at Children’s & Women’s Hospital, University Hospital, Mitchell Cancer Institute and Strada Patient Care Center. Our volunteers range from teens, as young as 16, to college students and adults of all ages. Groups from service and religious organizations are welcome to join our team of volunteers.

Children's and Women's Hospital

Volunteering at Children’s & Women’s Hospital

The volunteers at Children’s & Women’s Hospital can inspire healing moments with a simple smile or a comforting touch. Whether you work in the gift shop, rock and feed newborn babies, entertain and mentor pediatric patients, or greet and escort guests, you make an impact with each minute spent with patients or their families. Adults (18 years and older), college students, teens, piano players, chaplains and even specially trained pets are invited to join the volunteer team at our hospital.

University Hospital

Volunteering at University Hospital

Simple acts of kindness such as offering a word of encouragement to a critically ill patient, leading hospital tours or working in the gift shop can make a difference to our patients and visitors. Adults, teens and students training to become health professionals are invited to apply to volunteer with University Hospital.

Mitchell Cancer Institute

Volunteering at Mitchell Cancer Institute

You can bring hope to a cancer patient by volunteering with Mitchell Cancer Institute (MCI). Being by a patient’s side as he or she undergoes treatment or educating others about early detection or prevention of cancer are rewarding for the volunteer and for patients. Volunteer opportunities at MCI for adults and college students are primarily through the Chemo Sabe or the MCI HOPE (Health Outreach Prevention Engagement) volunteer programs.
