The University of South Alabama Health System helps people lead longer, better lives through its excellence in education, research and medical care. With more than 3,600 employees, the USA Health System network includes USA Medical Center, USA Children's & Women's Hospital, USA Mitchell Cancer Institute, USA Physicians Group and the USA College of Medicine. Each year, our team of 180 physicians, 240 residents and fellows, 70 advanced practice providers, and 800 nurses handle some 185,000 clinic visits and 350,000 outpatient procedures. The USA Health System delivers 2,800 babies a year, more than any other regional hospital, and treats patients through some 60,000 emergency room visits annually.

Children's & Women's Hospital is one of five freestanding hospitals in the United States dedicated specifically to the health care needs of children and women. Our team members are uniquely qualified and equipped to provide a wide range of therapeutic and surgical services for children and women, be it life-threatening illness, traumatic injury, premature birth, or high-risk obstetrical and gynecological needs. The College of Medicine is an expanding network designed to provide all facets of medical education, research and patient care. The College strives to create an environment conducive to learning and research in all fields of human biology and health care, permitting both students and faculty to maximize their potential. Scholarly endeavor, intellectual curiosity, and the extension of new knowledge by faculty and students are essential components of such an environment. The graduate studies program is a unit of the Graduate School of the University of South Alabama. Academic and professional standards are comparable to those of other leading medical schools in the United States. The College is a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
The Medical Center offers "the highest level of care" to the central Gulf Coast with unique services including Mobile’s only Level I Trauma Center and the Arnold Luterman Regional Burn Center, plus centers of excellence in stroke care and cardiovascular diseases, and a wide range of acute care services. The Mitchell Cancer Institute (MCI) is located in an ultra-modern, 125,000-square-foot building, featuring the most advanced research, diagnostic and treatment technology, and providing a pleasant, comfortable environment for cancer patients and their families. At MCI, many experts have joined together to attack cancer on all fronts — groundbreaking research, innovative clinical treatments, as well as a strong commitment to community awareness, outreach, early detection and prevention. This formidable combination is the core of MCI’s commitment to providing every patient — and the entire Gulf Coast region — with not only the absolute best cancer care, but also new early detection tools and new cancer treatments.
Comprised of 150 academic physicians on faculty at the USA College of Medicine, the University of South Alabama Physicians Group is the region's largest multi-specialty practice and the only academic physicians group along the central Gulf Coast. The new, 133,000-square-foot Strada Patient Care Center is home to many of the clinics in the USA Physicians Group practice. Other physician offices are located throughout Mobile at several hospital campuses and on the University's main campus. Our collective mission is to deliver leading-edge care to patients and to support the larger mission of the USA College of Medicine in the training of physicians and in the advancement of medical care through medical research.
