Amendment One allows the state to transfer $148.5 million per year for three years from the Alabama Trust Fund
(some have called it the state's savings account)
to the General Fund to avoid:
Reduction in essential state-provided services
The release of at least 9,500 state prisoners back into our communities
And, worst of all for the University of South Alabama, devastation of Medicaid and its ability to pay reimbursements for care provided at USA Children's & Women's Hospital, USA Medical Center, USA Physicians Group, and the Mitchell Cancer Institute
