Stipends & Benefits
All students accepted into the Ph.D. program receive a competitive full stipend (currently $23,000 per annum), waiver of tuition, waiver of non-resident fees and full health coverage is provided for the student. This level of support is sufficient to allow students to devote full time to graduate studies and is competitive with schools in the region. Additional financial aid can be obtained through loans according to the student's need in relation to graduate school costs.
The cost of living in Mobile is among the lowest in the country, making it ideal for graduate studies. The university maintains a wide range of housing facilities at extremely affordable prices. Housing for single students varies from traditional residence hall rooms to apartments with full kitchen. Mobile offers a wide range of inexpensive off-campus apartments and houses, many of which are available close to the campus.
