Primary Focus: The McMurtry laboratory studies the molecular and functional aspects of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) including the recently implicated role of Rho-kinase in the pathogenesis of PAH. I am particularly interested in right heart failure which, in PAH, is the greatest cause of both morbidity and mortality. My studies focus on Rho-kinase mediated coronary remodeling and cardiac function in the Sugen-Hypoxia-Normoxia rat model of PAH.
