Primary Focus: I am interested in understanding what the role of microtubules and microtubule-associated proteins is in endothelial cell physiology. Endothelial cells – the cells lining the inner layer of blood and lymphatic vessels – have very distinct and unique functions that are paramount to vascular biology. These functions include fluid filtration, blood vessel tone, hemostasis, neutrophil recruitment, and hormone trafficking. I have a particular interest in fluid filtration in the lung and currently use cell and molecular biology as well as bacterial genetics to explore this area.
